If you haven’t noticed this about me yet, I LOVE holidays. I love decorating for holidays, I love baking and cooking for holidays, and I love sharing holidays with my daughter! One of my favorite things to do is get books for each holiday. I pack them away each year and only bring them out for the appropriate holiday. It’s a fun way to get your child excited and engaged, especially when they are a small toddler with no comprehension of what it means to “dress up” like something or someone else. My mom used to do this with me when I was a child, and she still does it thirty years later for my siblings and me. In the spirit of Halloween coming up in about two weeks, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of the Halloween books that are our favorites around here! Look out for more fun book lists in the coming months!
Boo! // This is a great book, especially for really little ones. Nice thick pages and simple words for those little ones who are super impatient to get to the next page!
Pete the Cat Five Little Pumpkins // We love Pete the Cat in this house so this Halloween version is a hit!
Corduroy’s Best Halloween Ever! // I loved Corduroy as a kid so I love finding these holiday editions of my favorite classics!
The Berenstain Bears Trick or Treat // This was another favorite of mine as a kid! Great for older toddlers that are more into reading!
It’s Pumpkin Day Mouse // This is such a cute book and EG loves the mouse!
10 Trick-Or-Treaters // Counting is a big hit in our house currently and I love all the costumes in this book!
The Spooky Wheels On the Bus // I can’t even being to count how many times I have to sign this song so this is a fun alternative for Halloween!
Llama Llama Trick or Treat // We love all the llama llama books and this one is no different! It’s such a fun book series to read!
Goodnight Goon // Goodnight Moon has been a staple during bedtime routine since the beginning so I had to pick up this Halloween themed one for night time!
Ten Timid Ghosts // Another fun counting book! EG loves to count along with me now!
Eek! Halloween! // Sandra Boyton is another staple in our house! This is another fun book series that everyone loves!
