If there is anything that I have learned as a new mom, it is what to pack in your diaper bag! I can’t tell you how many times I have found myself out with Elliott and not had something that I needed! When I was pregnant and looking at diaper bags, they all seemed so huge to me. What could I possibly need all that space for??? And how could I possibly carry a bag that big along with a baby. So I registered for this Skip Hop bag which is on the smaller side. That means that I have to be very intentional with what I pack in my bag! I thought I would share the five things that I try to never leave the house without!
Diapers and Wipes
You would think this one would be kinda a no-brainer but it is probably the one I forget the most often! Isn’t that ironic?? (Alanis Morrisette anyone? No? Just me? Okay then…) I think it is because I grab them out of the bag so often and then I forget to restock them! I try to remember to do a double check every time I walk out the door.
Snacks
These Similac Grow & Go pouches are PERFECT for keeping in the diaper bag! It is really hard to find pouches for toddlers so I love that Similac Grow & Go has a toddler option! I also love that they have OptiGRO, a brain- and eye-nourishing blend of DHA, Lutein, and Vitamin E in forms similar to common foods, and are organic and non-GMO. Elliott has become quite picky with the pouches she likes but she loves every flavor of these that she has tried! I never leave home without one of these in the bag because when Elliott melts down, I can guarantee it is because she is hungry. Having these on hand lets us get through our errands or adventures happily! Just last night these came to the rescue again when my no-nap child was about to have a melt-down!
Make sure you head over to SheSpeaks to enter the Similac Grow & Go Sweepstakes for a chance to win a $50 WalMart giftcard! You can find them at your local Wal-Mart and there is currently an Ibotta offer for $0.50 off each pouch. If you don’t already use Ibotta when you grocery shop, click here to sign up! I’ve already gotten over $50 back since signing up!
Books
I try to leave a few books in the diaper bag at all times. Whenever I need a distraction, I can pull a book or two out to keep her attention for a little while. By keeping the same few in the diaper bag at all times, she only sees those books when we are out and about so they seem like a new toy each time! We have been getting a BookRoo subscription for her and they have been knocking it out of the park with unique books for her like this adorable book, Hopper and Wilson.
Change of Clothes
This one should be self-explanatory, like the diapers but hello mommy brain! I forget to restock these all the time as well! Don’t forget shoes and socks to go along with a change of clothes! Elliott just got this new pair of little baby Sperry’s and I’m obsessed. I need to get them in my size now!
Water Cup
It’s summer and it is HOT outside. I always try to put an extra empty water cup or two in the bag when I unload the dishwasher so that I always have one on hand! It is so much better than trying to use a plastic cup and a plastic lid. My kid is way too smart for that and she’ll have the whole cup dumped on herself in no time. All those parents with kids who sit nicely, holding their cup like an adult and drinking from a straw… HOWWWW??
So there you have it! The 5 things I always keep in my bag. What am I missing that you never leave the house without??
