I can’t wait to share this recipe with you all!
I made another batch of cutout cookies for a shower this past weekend. The recipe I used for the last batch (if you missed it, click here) was just ok. So I decided to try another recipe for this weekend. I just googled “cutout sugar cookie recipe” and this one from food.com had 5 stars so I gave it a go. It was AWESOME! So, here you go!
In a large bowl combine butter with sugar, eggs, vanilla and almond extract; beat using an electric mixer on high speed until light and fluffy. In another bowl combine the flour with baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the butter mixture until well blended. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours. Set oven to 350°F**. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper (do not grease cookie sheets use parchment paper only). On a very lightly floured surface roll out the dough into about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters. Place cookies 2-inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake 6-7 minutes. Remove cookies to wire racks to cool completely before icing.
**The recipe calls for preheating the over to 400 and baking for 4-6. I changed it up and was very happy with the results. However, I did not try it as the recipe called for and I’m sure that it will work just as well.
